🐔 OpenAI’s Family Reunion: The Servants, the Siblings, and the Mystery of Dot!

Welcome to the strangest family tree on the internet, where OpenAI is the eccentric grandparent, AI assistants are the overworked servants, and nobody can agree who brought the potato salad. 😂

At the top sits OpenAI, wearing a cardigan and saying, “We’re building the future!” Beneath it are the language models, each one trained to answer questions, write poems, explain taxes, and occasionally sound suspiciously confident about something it just invented.

Then come the servants: chatbots, coding assistants, image generators, research helpers, and mysterious digital cousins who appear whenever someone types, “Can you make this sound more professional?” They all rush in carrying invisible clipboards.

Tammy Meets the AI Family

Tammy, meanwhile, is staring at the family tree.

“Who is related to whom?” she asks.

Nobody answers.

One assistant says, “I’m a model.”

Another says, “I’m an agent.”

A third says, “I’m a tool.”

Then a fourth appears and announces, “I’m a workflow.”

Tammy blinks. “That sounds less like a family and more like a committee that lost its meeting agenda.”

And Then There’s Dot…

And then there’s Dot.

What is up with Dot?

Dot is the mysterious cousin nobody can explain. Is Dot a chatbot? A button? A helpful little digital assistant? A punctuation mark with ambitions? Nobody knows. Dot simply appears in the corner of the screen, quietly waiting for someone to ask a question.

“Hello, Dot,” Tammy says.

Dot replies, “How can I help?”

“Who are your parents?”

Dot pauses.

“Please clarify.”

“Are you related to OpenAI?”

“Please clarify.”

“Are you even real?”

“Please clarify.”

At this point, Tammy suspects Dot was raised by a help menu.

The Digital Family Soap Opera

The whole family tree is like a digital soap opera. OpenAI is trying to organize everyone, the models are competing to sound clever, the servants are doing all the chores, and Dot is standing in the hallway pretending not to hear the argument about who deleted the website.

Still, there are benefits. These AI relatives can brainstorm ideas, summarize documents, write code, explain complicated topics, and help rescue a blog post from the jaws of a technological chicken.

One Important Rule

But Tammy has learned one important rule: never trust a family tree with too many branches, especially when half the branches are named “Assistant,” “Agent,” or “Something Beta.”

So if Dot shows up, just smile politely and ask what it does.

If Dot says, “Please clarify,” congratulations.

You have officially met the family. 🤖🌳🐔
